Advertising – including campaigns, promotions, trade fairs are booming in Dubai as this reflects in permits being issued to this sector of the Emirates economy. Over the first quarter of this year, the Dubai Economy has witnessed 1,604 advertising permits being issued by the business registration and licensing (BRL) sector. These permits are issued to help standardize the activities, products, and services rendered by the various types of economic activities in Dubai. The permits help businesses to communicate their activities and increases its demand.
According to BRL, this number of permits represents the highest number of all permits issues within the first quarter of the year. Additionally, special promotions and other promotional activities accounted for 1,061 and 1,077 permits issued by the BRL respectively. BRL, under the Dubai Economy, also permitted 476 clearance sales, 39 exhibitions and 2 conferences.
The director of commercial registration in BRL, Walid Abdul Malik, mentioned that “The retail sector is a dominant player in Dubai and we strive to position it as the best regionally and worldwide. Commercial permits issued during the first quarter of 2017 indicates a substantial growth in advertising spend, which further demonstrates the success Dubai Economy has achieved in advancing economic activity and enhancing business competitiveness.” Adding to that, the senior manager for commercial permits in BRL, Khalid Al Marri, highlighted that “The permits issued in Q1 underscore Dubai’s status as a thriving hub for businesses and consumers alike. It also reaffirms the overall economic growth and competitiveness in Dubai.”
Overall commercial permits issued within the first quarter of the year stood at 5,646 while advertising accounted for the highest percentage with 1,604 while the retail sector came second with 1,387 permits. Retail and advertising is obviously growing hand-in-hand as marketing of products, and services is the basis for the flourish of business activities.
