The Wonder Women behind CEO Event Management

Who runs the world? Girls, Charlotte and Lucy Oliver continue to dominate the events industry, ten years and counting

The dynamic duo of Charlotte and Lucy Oliver have proven to be resilient and a strong force to reckon with in Dubai’s event management industry. CEO Event Management is celebrating 10 years in operation, transforming the Middle East hosting, staffing and event management landscape.

Founded by Charlotte Oliver a decade ago and supported by sister Lucy for the past eight years, CEO Event Management has grown from one person to a team that now has access to over 5,000 talented staff, fluent in more than six languages. Equipped to cater to the needs of both regional and international brands as well as exhibitions, product launches and gala dinners, CEO Event Management has recently celebrated successful events at the Abu Dhabi Formula 1 Grand Prix and Emirates Airline Dubai Rugby Sevens.

Charlotte Oliver, Founder of CEO Event Management, first arrived in Dubai on holiday and only intended to stay for a month, but she spotted an opportunity in the market: “There was a gap for quality event staffing in the region and I decided to take a risk and launch CEO Event Management. As Dubai has grown, so has the business and now we staff and run events for some of the region’s most famous and influential businesses and individuals.”

Those clients include HSBC, Chanel, Mubadala, Sony and Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority. With Expo 2020 on the horizon and the United Arab Emirates’ desire to lead global tourism, Charlotte believes there is the prospect to grow further.

“We have been lucky to ride some difficult periods of economic uncertainty as we have a very loyal client base, but with Expo 2020 on the horizon, there will be plenty of opportunity in Dubai over the coming years.”

Lucy Oliver trained as a lawyer, before starting her career at the Financial Ombudsman Service in London. After a year in the industry she realised it was not her calling and chose to move to Dubai for a year to work with her sister at CEO. Her passion for the business began to grow, and eight years down the line, she is now fully involved in the daily management and strategic responsibilities of the company.

“We’re sisters and we have a way of working together that gels,” says Lucy, “It’s not just us, we have a permanent team of 10 who work tirelessly. We’re all willing to put in the hard work and in Dubai, that’s the only way to be successful.”

With a solid in-house team of project managers and executives who support with running the events and day-to-day administrative tasks, CEO Event Management has successfully negotiated a decade in business and is well set to thrive for many more years to come.
