Umm Al Quwain is one of the seven emirates of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). It is the least populous emirate of the seven constituent emirates in the UAE. It is located in the northern part of the country. The total land area of the emirate is 770 square km and the latest population in the year 2019 is 0.08 million. The emirate of Umm Al Quwain consists in the main of the coastal city of Umm Al Quwain and the inland oasis town of Falaj Al Moalla which is about 30 km away from the coast.

Islands lie to the east of the mainland peninsula on a unique stretch of coastline consisting of sandy islands which are surrounded by densely mangrove forests. These mangrove forests are separated by a series of the creek. The largest among the seven islands is Al Sinniyah. All of the islands are visible from the old town. The Madaar creek which runs between the islands provides a navigable waterway for fishermen even at very low tide and when the average depth is less than even a few feet!
