Dealing With The Digital Enemy
Cyberspace is growing and the digital world is forever expanding into all areas of our lives. 23% growth in active social media accounts (UAE since 2014), 48% mobile social media accounts, 51% internet penetration and 73% proliferation of smartphones and CCTV cameras. These numbers demonstrate that digital sources are valuable forensics sources.
Advanced Conferences & Meetings (ACM) is proud to launch Digital Forensics & Analysis Summit GCC on 9-10 October 2017 in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
This specialised summit will provide a platform for international experts and GCC practitioners to share best practices and real life case studies on the usage of technology in the forensics departments and extraction of evidence that can stand up in trial.
The UAE stays ahead in combating Cybercrime
Madinat Zayed is investing in 16 high-tech cameras. Abu Dhabi will soon see more speed cameras in the western region. Dubai Police recently developed a US$100Million forensic lab with a specialised digital unit. The UAE has set up well established national CERT’s (Computer Emergency Response Team) which focusses on several goals including computer forensics.
Several countries in the GCC (Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Oman and Bahrain) have invested in highly capable CERT centers to deal with Cybercrime which have become too common.
CERT representatives from different countries will be present at Digital Forensics & Analysis Summit GCC to discuss counter-forensic activities, Q-Cert vision to establish a national digital forensic capability and how to protect ourselves against major disruptions and attacks (with Shamoon as a topical major incident).
